Camo Seat Covers

Custom made seat covers for a truck bench seat. This is the first time that I've ever made seat covers. It was a very challenging job, but I am very satisfied with the result.

I used heavy-duty material and upholstry thread, as well as elastic around the bottom and elastic ties to hold the seat in place.

How to Make Your Own Laundry Soap

You will need the following ingredients:

1 bar Fels Naptha soap
1 box Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
1 box Borax
1 (2 gallon) bucket
All of these items can be found in the laundry aisle of your local grocery store.

-Grate 1/3 of the bar of Fels Naptha soap into a large saucepan. Add 6 cups water to the grated soap and heat on the stove until soap is completely melted. Add 1/2 cup borax and 1/2 cup washing soda to the soapy water. Stir until the powder is completely dissolved. Remove from heat.
In the 2 gallon bucket, add 1 gallon plus 10 cups water. Then add your soap mixture and stir. Let your laundry detergent sit for at least 24 hours before using it. It should gel up a little. You will use 1/2 cup of your homemade detergent per load.
Have fun and I hope you enjoy this post!

Sunglass Case

Quilted Sunglass Case. I always have a hard time trying to find a case that will fit my "BIG" sunglasses, so I decided to make one. I used a pink cotton fabric for the outside. Then I lined it with some batting and gave it that cute quilted look. I then lined the inside with a terry-cloth fabric that would be smooth on the lenses of my sunglasses. I used a cute pink ribbon to line the edge and added a little loop with a circle bead to give it a little extra flair.

Patchwork Purse

I made this bag out of two pairs of old corduroy pants and a men's dress shirt. I cut the patches into 4" x 4" squares. The strap is made from the side seams of the pants, I just braided the two different colors together and attached them to the sides of the bag. I made this for a friend of mine who donated the fabric to me. I Love these colors together!

Patchwork Circle Skirt #2

This is my most recent creation. A tiered patchwork circle skirt. It consists of over 300 patches that measure 6"x 6". The total length of the skirt is 42". I used brown, white, cream, tan and orange fabrics. I used elastic in the waist, which was much easier than putting in a zipper or making a tied waistband. This is my favorite skirt so far and it only took me 1 week to make it.

Toddler Three Tiered Skirt

This will be one of many skirts that I will be posting. It's just a simple three tiered skirt that I made for my girls. Very simple! All you need is a little elastic and whatever fabric you want.

Patchwork Circle Skirt

This is the patchwork circle skirt that I made. It consists of around 300 or so 6"x6" squares. It took me almost 2 months to sew and cut the fabric patches. It's about shin length.
